Industrial Engineer I

Job Purpose:

The Industrial Engineer (IE) applies engineering principles to plan and design processes in or interfacing with the manufacturing facility. The IE conducts studies in operations to maximize workflow and spatial utilization and promotes workplace safety and facility efficiency. The IE supports the design, machining, assembly, crating, shipping and receiving, and quality control departments. The IE may lead and direct the work of others.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Apply the knowledge of engineering principles to plan and design manufacturing processes
  • Maximize efficiency within the manufacturing facility by analysis of equipment layout, assembly methods, and workforce utilization
  • Review curtainwall designs and machining and assembly requirements and determine the tools and equipment required to maximize manufacturing efficiencies and safety
  • Conduct time studies, collect data, and drive action to identify where non-value added activities occur
  • Independently identifies process gaps and recommends and implements process improvement.
  • Drives process improvement activities to achieve dramatic improvement in the critical business metrics of safety, quality, delivery, cost
  • Institute changes independently and effectively; Change Agent
  • Read and interpret project submittal drawings and specifications
  • Provide support and coordination to the operations team, factory, and field personnel as needed
  • Use education and company provided training to further develop required skills

Qualifications:

Key Roles and Skill Sets:

  • Strong general computer skills including working knowledge of email, MS Office, and similar software
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Inventor/SolidWorks
  • Knowledge and understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles (TAKT time, KANBAN, PDCA, cell designs)
  • Experience with Process mapping and value stream mapping
  • Strong spatial aptitude
  • Experience leading teams
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering
  • 1-3 years’ experience
  • Continuous Improvement background a plus
  • Six Sigma Certification preferred

Mechanical Engineer

Job Purpose:

The Mechanical Engineer (ME) applies the knowledge of engineering principles to design curtainwall systems and components. The ME develops and refines processes within all departments, including design and engineering, manufacturing, and field installation. The ME provides building physics support (thermal, acoustic, etc.) through specification review and analysis. The ME uses experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals per schedule and budget objectives. The ME may lead and direct the work of others.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop curtainwall systems and components, making appropriate decisions based on project specifications and budgets
  • Develop and refine processes for design and engineering, manufacturing, and installation departments
  • Generate project submittal drawings for review by the external design team (Architect/Consultant/GC)
  • Develop 3D parametric models for the generation of production information and 3D wireframe models
  • Follow and support process improvement in best practice drafting and modeling standards
  • Review, interpret and apply project specifications to materials and designs
  • Read and interpret project Architectural and Structural drawings
  • May supervise, mentor, and train other resources
  • Provide support and coordination to the operations team, factory, and field personnel as needed
  • Use education and company provided training to develop the required skills further
  • Additional items as needed by design and engineering departments

Qualifications:

Project Manager

Job Purpose:

Ideal candidates must possess strong problem-solving capabilities and be willing to work independently in a fast-moving environment with high-performance expectations. Candidates must also be proficient in Microsoft Project and the Microsoft Office Suite, with strong Excel aptitude. Candidates must possess an intimate knowledge of construction management with a strong emphasis on curtainwall.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Understanding the process of a facade project from conceptual design and budget preparation through to project closeout
  • Initiation, processing, and distribution of Submittals and RFIs
  • Beginning with the estimate and the contract, the PM is to understand the project scope and be able to meet with and lead the Engineering / Factory and Design Department managers to develop the drawings, contract requirements, and quality procedures
  • Manage the design development, being mindful of logistical constraints, ultimately ensuring that feasibility and buildability are fully integrated
  • Lead, develop, and motivate the project team to meet the company and project goals.
  • Maintain relationships with The Owner / Owner’s representative, General Contractor, and Architect as well as the PMs of other trades that might impact the success of the scope of work
  • Review, understand, and price additional scope items resulting from Design Team / Owner initiated changes or field changes. Ensure that Change Order Requests are submitted to and approved by the GC in a timely manner
  • Initiate and maintain any logs required to track and coordinate all aspects of the work.
  • Develop, track, and update the project schedule with the Project Planner and allocate the designers and shop manufacturing accordingly to prioritize scope items for design, engineering, mockups, production, and installation activities.
  • Manage the process of material ordering and scheduling with the Purchasing Manager for materials, equipment, and sub-contracts with consideration to budget, time, and quality requirements are met
  • Maintain communication throughout all departments to ensure meeting the production requirements
  • Continually monitor the fabrication (machining, assembly, and crating) process, ensuring that product ships per the schedule and site constraints
  • Ensure site deliveries are coordinated with the requirements of the project and that field resources are available
  • Continually monitor the installation of product on-site to ensure the schedule is maintained
  • Prepare and issue monthly AIA billings to the GC, ensuring project cash flow and payments are received on time
  • Attend site meetings as required and be available during installations as needed
  • Manage the closeout process at the project end to expedite the timely release of retainage

Qualifications:

Key Roles and Skill Sets:

  • Ability to understand and utilize the metric system
  • An engineering/architectural background is a plus
  • Familiarity with architectural metal, wood, glass, and stone form and function.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science or higher in construction, engineering, or architectural type field
  • Minimum of 5 years prior experience in a project management related field
  • Previous experience in façade project management or design
